OneDrive integration

The OneDrive integration connects your firm’s Microsoft OneDrive to Parachute. Once connected, you can import files into your knowledge base or matters, reference documents in AI chat, and save finished documents back to OneDrive - without leaving Parachute.

  • Import files - browse your OneDrive folders and import documents into your knowledge base or matter files
  • Reference files in chat - ask the AI to search and read files from OneDrive during a conversation, without importing them permanently
  • Save documents to OneDrive - export documents you’ve created in Parachute directly to a OneDrive folder as DOCX
  • Sync folders - link a OneDrive folder to a knowledge base or matter so new and updated files are imported automatically
  1. Log in to your Parachute account at app.goparachute.ai
  2. Navigate to Firm settings > Integrations
  3. Find OneDrive and click Connect
  4. You’ll be redirected to Microsoft to authorise Parachute
  5. Grant the required permissions and click Allow

Once connected, OneDrive features are available to all members of your organisation.

Only organisation admins can connect OneDrive. One OneDrive account can be connected per organisation.

You can import files from OneDrive into your knowledge base or into a specific matter’s documents.

  1. Open your Knowledge base or a Matter’s documents tab
  2. Click the import button and select Import from OneDrive
  3. Browse folders or use the search bar to find files
  4. Select one or more files, then click Import

Imported files are downloaded and stored in Parachute. They behave identically to manually uploaded files - they’re chunked, embedded, and available for AI search and retrieval.

Parachute tracks which files have been imported from OneDrive, so you won’t accidentally import the same file twice.

The same file types supported for regular uploads work with OneDrive imports: PDF, DOCX, DOC, PPTX, PPT, XLSX, XLS, CSV, TXT, EML, MSG, and common image formats (PNG, JPG, TIFF, WEBP, HEIC).

Unsupported file types appear greyed out in the file picker.

When OneDrive is connected, the AI can search and read your OneDrive files during a conversation. You don’t need to import files first.

Example queries:

“Find the Smith engagement letter on OneDrive”

“Read the NDA in the Contracts folder on OneDrive”

“What does the employee handbook say about leave entitlements?” (the AI will search OneDrive if the file isn’t already in your knowledge base)

The AI reads the file content temporarily for that conversation. The file is not imported into Parachute unless you explicitly ask to save it.

“Save that NDA to this matter’s documents”

When you’ve drafted or reviewed a document in Parachute, you can save it directly to OneDrive instead of downloading it locally.

  1. Open the document in the editor or thread view
  2. Click the download/export button
  3. Select Save to OneDrive
  4. Browse to the folder where you want to save the file
  5. Click Save here

The document is exported as DOCX and uploaded to your chosen folder. You’ll see a confirmation with a link to open the file in OneDrive.

You can link a OneDrive folder to a knowledge base or matter so files stay in sync automatically.

  1. Open your Knowledge base or a Matter’s documents tab
  2. Click the sync settings and select Sync a OneDrive folder
  3. Browse to the folder you want to sync
  4. Confirm the link
  • New files added to the synced OneDrive folder are automatically imported into Parachute
  • Modified files are re-imported with updated content
  • Deleted files are flagged in Parachute with a “source deleted” indicator, but not removed - your Parachute copy is preserved
  • Sync checks happen when you open the knowledge base or matter, and no more than once per hour per folder

Only organisation admins can set up or remove folder syncs. Removing a sync keeps all previously imported files in Parachute.

  • One OneDrive account per organisation (per-user connections are not currently supported)
  • Documents saved to OneDrive are exported as DOCX only
  • Folder sync is one-directional - changes in Parachute are not pushed back to OneDrive automatically
  • OneDrive for Business is supported. SharePoint document libraries are not included in this integration
  • Files larger than 50 MB cannot be imported
  • The AI reads files with a token budget per request. For large documents, it may read a portion and offer to search for specific sections
