Clio integration

The Clio integration connects your Parachute workspace to your Clio practice management system. Once connected, you can search matters, log time entries, manage contacts, and access your practice data - all from within Parachute’s AI chat.

The integration gives Parachute’s AI access to your Clio data through natural conversation. You don’t need to learn specific commands - just ask for what you need.

These work in any Parachute thread, whether or not it’s linked to a specific matter:

  • Search matters - find matters in Clio by name, number, or status (up to 50 results)
  • Link matters - connect a Parachute matter to its Clio equivalent so future queries pull the right context
  • Create matters - create a new matter in Clio directly from Parachute, with a practice area and at least one client contact
  • Run conflict checks - search for a person or company and see every matter they’re associated with, including their role on each matter (e.g. Client, Opposing Party, Opposing Counsel, Witness). Useful for identifying potential conflicts of interest before taking on new work
  • Browse practice areas - see the available practice areas (matter types) in your Clio account
  • Search contacts - look up clients, firms, or other contacts in your Clio database (up to 50 results)
  • Create contacts - add new person or company contacts to Clio without leaving Parachute
  • Update contacts - edit contact details like phone numbers, emails, or addresses

Once a Parachute thread is linked to a Clio matter, you get access to matter-specific tools:

  • View matter details - see client info, responsible attorney, originating and assisting attorneys, practice area, related contacts with roles, open/close dates, and description. You can also jump directly to the matter in Clio from within Parachute
  • List documents - browse files stored on the matter, including name, type, dates, and folder
  • Save documents to Clio - save a document you’ve created in Parachute to the linked Clio matter as a PDF
  • Log time - record billable time entries with a subject, duration, optional description, and optional hourly rate. Time entries are created as billable by default
  • View time entries - see all time entries on the matter with a breakdown and totals
  • View invoices - check invoice numbers, issued and due dates, paid dates, amounts, tax, and payment status
  • View and create notes - read existing notes or add new ones with a title and body
  • View and create calendar events - see upcoming events or schedule new ones with subject, times, description, location, and attendees
  • View and create tasks - check task lists or assign new tasks with a subject, optional description, and optional due date
  1. Log in to your Parachute account at app.goparachute.ai
  2. Navigate to Firm settings > Integrations
  3. Find Clio and click Connect
  4. You’ll be redirected to Clio to authorise Parachute
  5. Grant the required permissions and click Allow

Once connected, your success message will confirm that your Clio account is linked to Parachute. Clio tools are automatically available in all new threads.

To use matter-specific tools (time logging, documents, tasks, etc.), link a Parachute matter to its Clio equivalent:

  1. Open a thread within a matter
  2. Ask the AI to search for and link the matter, e.g. “Link this to matter 00001 in Clio”
  3. The AI will search Clio, show you matching results, and ask you to confirm

You can also import matters from Clio using the import modal for bulk imports, or ask the AI to link from any thread.

Imported matters retain their reference number, assigned staff, and a direct link back to the Clio matter.

Here are some examples of how you can use the integration in everyday work:

For actions that change data in Clio (creating matters, logging time, saving documents, creating or updating contacts, adding notes, tasks, events, etc.), Parachute will always ask you to confirm before proceeding. You’ll see a summary of what will be created or changed, and can approve or cancel.

Read operations like searching matters, viewing documents, or checking time entries happen seamlessly with no interruption.

No data is written to Clio without your explicit confirmation.
