Slack Integration

The Parachute Slack bot brings AI-powered legal assistance into your team’s daily workflow. Ask legal questions in Slack and get answers grounded in your organisation’s knowledge base - without switching to the Parachute app.

What you can do

  • Ask legal questions - get instant AI-powered answers to legal queries
  • Knowledge base search - the bot searches your organisation’s Parachute knowledge base for relevant answers
  • Quick guidance - get preliminary guidance on legal topics before diving into the full platform
  • Team awareness - share legal insights in channels where your team already communicates

Setup

Install the Slack bot

  1. Log in to your Parachute account at app.goparachute.ai
  2. Navigate to Integrations in the sidebar
  3. Find Slack and click Connect
  4. You’ll be redirected to Slack to authorise the Parachute bot
  5. Select the workspace where you want to install the bot
  6. Grant the required permissions and click Allow

Configure channels

After installation, the bot can be used in:

  • Direct messages - for private legal questions
  • Channels - mention @Parachute in any channel where the bot has been invited
  • Threads - reply in threads for follow-up questions with context

To invite the bot to a channel: type /invite @Parachute in the channel.

Asking questions

Mention the bot or send a direct message:

@Parachute What are our data retention obligations under the Australian Privacy Act?

The bot will:

  1. Search your organisation’s Parachute knowledge base
  2. Reference relevant policies and documents
  3. Provide a concise answer with citations
  4. Suggest further reading on the Parachute platform

Best practices

  • Be specific - “What does our privacy policy say about data retention?” works better than “Tell me about privacy”
  • Ask in context - use threads for follow-up questions so the bot has conversation context
  • Use for guidance, not final answers - the bot provides AI-powered guidance. For matters requiring professional sign-off, use Expert Verification

Limitations

Section titled “Limitations”
  • The Slack bot provides AI-generated guidance, not legal advice
  • Answers are based on your knowledge base content - keep it current for accurate responses
  • For complex matters, the bot will suggest moving to the full Parachute platform
  • File uploads and document drafting are not available through Slack - use the main app for these
